Possibility of Increase in Crime

More people, less security = more crime

The following is not a scare tactic, but, sadly, a reality regarding trails.

Vandalism, assault, drug use and even murder, has occurred on the Los Angeles River, Ballona Creek, Whittier Greenway, Santa Ana River and San Gabriel River trails – all located here in Southern California.

With the Verdugo Wash running through mostly suburban neighborhoods, close to many homes, an “active transportation corridor” (as the City envisions) through the wash could also provide criminals with easy, more obscured access to private properties. The fact is, “trail crime” cannot occur where there is no trail. Below are multiple links to news articles about recent crime on our local Southern California trails.
